June, 2012

In June 2012 I received the worst news any parent would want to hear. My daughter Nicole Starr was diagnosed with end stage liver failure and ALL reports said there was little chance for recovery and it would be just a matter of time before she would die. But little did they know I was standing on a promise from God so I was armed and ready to fight for my daughter’s life…

August 1, 2012

Nicole was rushed to the hospital and had a hematoma the size of a serving platter across her back and she was severely jaundiced. She was bleeding internally and needed immediate surgery and was put on life support. All reports came back with doom & gloom but I was standing on Gods word: “ MOTHER, FEAR NOT.”

August 14, 2012

Nicole was dazed and looked right through me as she sat up she vomited a fountain of blood. Rushed back to ER all reports said there was no hope as her BP had plummeted to an all time low. Back on life support I continued to stand on Gods promise. “My work will be accomplished”

October 17, 2012

Nicole was transferred to Vanderbilt Hospital for consultation and upon arrival Nicole had a seizure caused by several bleeds in her brain, she was put back on life support and was now in total kidney failure. Doctors reports all said “there is no hope and she is not expected to wake up” so we stayed by her side throughout the day and spoke words of LIFE over her: “You will live & not die and we will proclaim His mighty works. He has chastened severely but HE HAS NOT given you over to death.” Psalm 118: 16 & 17

Days away from Nicole’s 32nd birthday the doctors said there was nothing more that could be done, it would just be a matter of time and Nicole would die. Nicole looked at me and cried asking “Mom, I’m going to die aren’t I?” I answered back “NO, You will live & not die… No man has the right to put a time limit on your life. Jehovah Rapha is your healer and HE is right here with us.” “ You heard my cry for MERCY when I called to you for help” Psalm 31:22

November 4, 2012

We celebrated Nicole’s birthday back in Chattanooga and our new routine of weekly counseling sessions, dialysis treatments & blood transfusions became the norm. When fear & doubt tried to come in I spoke Gods word: “I cast down ALL thoughts and imaginations that try to exalt themselves about the knowledge of God & I bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ Jesus” 2 Corinthians 10:5. Nothing was coming between us and the promises of God…

February 2013

While at a routine dialysis treatment Nicole took a turn for the worse and her blood pressure once again plummeted. Her ammonia levels where off the chart and she was at risk of going into a coma from Hepatic Encepolopothy, (an occurrence of confusion, altered levels of consciousness & coma which leads to death due to the extreme toxins in the blood stream)

Her body was under violent attack and the enemy was trying everything to take Nicole out but with every dart he threw her way I was armed and ready with Gods MIGHTY WORD. “If anyone says to this mountain, Go throw yourself in the sea, and does NOT DOUBT IN HIS HEART but believes what he says, IT WILL BE DONE FOR THEM.” Mark 11:23 In the natural Nicole was teetering on the edge of life & death with a 2% chance of surviving BUT GOD in the supernatural was scheduling a divine appointment.

March 15, 2013

After 9 long months, the Doctor’s walked in to our room and said “Nicole has finally been approved to be listed on the United Network of Organ Sharing and due to her extremely high MELD score she will be matched with the first compatible donor.” How long that would be was anyone’s guess BUT GOD in all His glory was preparing for Nicole’s miracle. At just the right time on March 17th after a long 7 hour surgery Nicole received her new life saving liver and later that day after another 4 hour surgery she received her new life saving kidney. It was truly the hand of GOD that kept Nicole alive and orchestrated this amazing 2nd chance at life for Nicole.

With the worst finally behind us I slipped away to attend a church service at The River Church in Nashville with Pastor Dony McGuire & Reba Rambo. Dony announced the title of his sermon: AGAINST ALL ODDS and tears of joy rolled down my cheeks as he shared the words from Job 42:2 “NO PLAN OF GODS CAN BE THWARTED” It confirmed what God had promised me 21 years earlier through the words HE spoke through Francis Hunter, “MOTHER, FEAR NOT, MY WORK WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED”

Nicole has graduated from New Life Bible College and has a wonderful new career so now the Lord is prompting me to go out and share this message of HOPE with others. “They overcame by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony” I am stepping out in faith believing the Lord to open doors and direct my path and I hope you will prayerfully consider having me come and share our entire journey with your congregation or group.

April 2019

Sadly Nicole was hospitalized while working in Colorado and the news came that her transplanted kidney was failing so plans were made and we brought Nicole back home to TN to get the care that she needed and take the necessary steps to get her on the local transplant list. After many, many months of compromised health the Dr told us that it was time and Nicole needed to go on dialysis immediately. Her first thought was how could she continue to work with the demanding new schedule of weekly Dr’s appointments and dialysis treatments. The answer soon became clear that we would need to start a company that would give Nicole the flexibility she needed so in May of 2022 FROSTY BITES Freeze Dried Candy company was launched. Seeing the tremendous following it had we began promoting “Candy for a Cause” with the goal of educating the public on the importance of individuals pre- registering to become on organ donor and to help create awareness and sponsorships for The Rapha Bear Project.
